Massage Therapist

What I offer:

Remedial Massage aims to work through specific postural problems, especially in areas that are painful, not fully functioning, or need some rehabilitation or recovery. These sessions are designed to assess posture, measure range of movement, pain levels and test for muscle imbalances and weakness, then worked through with massage therapy for functional improvement. Improvements are measured using specific outcome measurements and results are recorded to monitor improvements. The assessment can take around 15 - 20 minutes. The massage therapy session will then focus on the area of dysfunction and work to progress the functionality session on session. Assessments are performed each session, but will be quicker as we work through the process and see improvements. If you have any questions about these sessions, please contact Jo to discuss further.

Deep Tissue massage will work to ease out the knots from stressed, overworked muscles and connective tissue (fascia) to help alleviate pain in joints and muscles. Trigger Point Therapy can be used to pinpoint hyperirritable spots within muscle strands and smooth out these taut bands. Faster healing is promoted by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation. Myofascial release techniques can be used to release superficial fascia and stretch techniques are used for particularly tight and shortened muscle fibres. All done with relaxation in mind, so that the body feels rejuvenated and restored.

Sports Massage is a deep tissue style massage that is invigorating and rejuvenating. Soft tissue manipulation helps prevent injury for athletes from all genres of sporting activity. Massage improves the muscle recovery period and releases any stress or tension that muscles may be holding on to. Massage will vary from client to client depending on areas of focus, pain levels, tolerance and specific outcomes. Modified to pre-event, post-event, restorative and rehabilitative treatments.
